Qualimat Transport Introduction

Introduction

For 23 years, Qualimat Transport’s specifications have been the national reference for preserving the hygiene quality, during bulk transportation, of products (raw materials and compound feed) destined for animal feed.

Qualified auditors from 11 authorized bodies carry out third-party audits annually to check that the reference requirements are being met by certified transport operators.

L’IDTF

The IDTF (International Database Transport for Feed) was set up in 2012 based on a desire of ICRT (International Committee of Road Transport) member countries to share their cleaning requirements via a European online database, available in 4 languages, to facilitate transport operators’ processes when working internationally.

The IDTF allows research into the minimum level of cleaning required for all merchandise that is classified by ICRT into 5 levels: forbidden merchandise and those requiring a minimum level of cleaning A, B, C and D.

The ICRT tries to define the cleaning levels common to all member organizations, but there is a list of differences, linked to regulatory requirements specific to each country.

This list of differences is accessible on the IDTF website.

Mutual Recognition

Recognition between similar systems in Europe

Operating conditions for mutual recognition

The transport operator wanting to work within the framework of the mutual recognition with the three other equivalent systems (GMP+, Ovocom or OS) must note this on the questionnaire before the audit, which will be required annually by the Certifying Organization.

The transport operator must regularly keep updated on the list of differences.

The strictest requirement (level of cleaning or prohibition) in the loads must always be applied before transporting “products” destined for animal feed.

List of companies referenced in the other systems

The ordering customer must ensure that the transport company is referenced by one of 4 companies: GMP/OVOCOM, GMP+, QS and Qualimat Transport.

The lists can be consulted on each organization’s website:

Specificities relating to QS recognition

Transport operators with “Qualimat Certification” wanting to work in mutual recognition with QS must register in the QS database and then sign the contract that will be sent to them before organizing any transportation of products to Germany.

Recognition in the transportation component of the CSA-GTP reference

A recognition protocol has been drawn up between CSA-GTP and Qualimat. It has been in force since 1st January 2014.

This protocol ensures that the Storage Agencies’ internal fleet certified as CSA-GTP meets the level of Qualimat Transport’s specification requirements and allows manufacturers to respect the RCNA requirement for all deliveries.

This recognition is limited to own account transportation by the Storage Agencies, who are obliged to integrate their whole fleet in the scope of certification.

In the case of different levels of cleaning between the two frameworks, the strictest cleaning procedures from CSA-GTP and Qualimat Transport should be applied for own account transportation. Appendix 1 of the recognition protocol “List of differences and level of cleaning to be applied in the framework of the recognition between CSA-GTP and Qualimat Transport” applies in this case.
